(Description at the Supply Depot)
Unit[]
The Storm Troopers it's infantry unit of German Army side which good against infantry. Its counterpart on the side of the Soviet Army is Red Army Squad.
Appearance[]
The Storm Troopers are a group of 6 Wehrmacht soldiers, each of whom is holding an MP 40 submachine gun. They wear helmets, tunics (most likely M36), trousers (most likely M22) and black boots. Their uniforms are gray-green in color.
Abilities[]
Combat Features[]
The Storm Troopers alone is not a strong unit. The health reserve is quite low, as is the damage. In addition, many units of the tank or truck types have resistance to anti-infantry attacks. Because of this, the Storm Troopers cannot destroy any completely healthy unit with a single attack. In addition, even starting the attack first, the Storm Troopers will win in the percentage of lost healf points only against other infantry units. However, already two Storm Troopers are able to eliminate even entrenched units of enemy infantry. Also, being infantry units, they have a number of advantages.
Strong against: 82mm Mortar, Elite 82mm Mortar.
Weak against: BA-20, BM 13 "Katyusha", Howitzer ML-20, Yak-1, Pe-2, Elite Red Army Squad, Elite BA-20.
Passability[]
Infantry units have an average margin of step points, however, they spend less movement points in difficult places, and are also able to move on ice, pass through anti-tank barriers and climb mountains. Being in the mountains also increases the viewing range to 4, which can give a reconnaissance advantage, for example, to help your artillery attack from a safer distance. Also, infantry units do not waste fuel, which allows you not to waste additional resources on their longer-range movements.
Type of locality | Cost of step points |
---|---|
Road | 1 |
Flatland | 1 |
Ice | 1 |
Forest | 2 |
Village | 2 |
Mountain | 3 |
Anti-tank barriers | 2 |
Tactical Fatures[]
As an infantry unit, a Storm Troopers has the following special skills:
- The Storm Troopers can be placed in a Transport Truck, due to which they can be transported to a longer distance on the road.
- The Storm Troopers can occupy structures such as Bunkers and MG-42 positions. They will also be a more profitable option for this than anti-tank infantry because of the lower price and greater mobility (that is, they will reach the position faster). And the positions themselves will be a direct improvement in damage, protection and attack range for the anti-personnel fire of the Storm Troopers.
- The Storm Troopers will be good as a cheap scout in the fog of war.
- The Storm Troopers is also a cheap option for destroying enemy infantry, that is, it will allow you to cheaply clear the way from some of the threats to anti-tank infantry and your equipment.
- The Storm Troopers does not require a lot of resources and restores all health and all ammunition from one instant supply.
However, it is worth remembering that due to the small health reserve, Storm Troopers can be easily destroyed by one shot of some units, so it is recommended to use digging and camouflage, as well as place it in cities and forests, which will give a bonus to protection.
Trivia[]
- The Storm Troopers is the cheapest unit in the game
- The Storm Troopers surprisingly has the same amount of health as a light fighter plane.
- The Storm Troopers has a different price in the company and multiplayer.
- The game files contain death sprites of the Storm Troopers, which is peculiar only to infantry units.
Historical background[]
Army Group "Center"[]
To attack the USSR, Germany concentrated 5.5 million people on the eastern border, counting reserves. The offensive on Moscow was carried out by the army group "Center", which included 1.45 million people. By the winter of 1941, the group almost reached the capital of the USSR, but was stopped and pushed back.
Storm groups[]
German units experienced a greater shortage of submachine guns than the Red Army. This was especially true in urban battles. Therefore, it was decided to form assault groups, the main weapons of which were MP 38 and MP 40.
MP 40[]
The MP 40 submachine gun was created on the basis of the MP 38 with the elimination of the technical shortcomings of its predecessor and simplification of production. However, the MP 40 was still difficult to manufacture and in this respect was quite comparable to the Soviet PPD-40. But the PPSH-41, the more common Soviet submachine gun, was much easier to manufacture. The MP 40 was more accurate at distances up to 100 meters, lighter and more compact. At the same time, the PPSH-41 was more long-range, rapid-fire and better suited for hand-to-hand combat due to its longer length and heavy wooden butt.
The Soviet troops also experienced a shortage of submachine guns at the beginning of the war, and the lighter, compact and accurate MP 40 themselves were good weapons. Especially these characteristics were important to tankers. Later, the Soviet Union created its own analogues: PPS-42 and PPS-43. Also, the MP 40 was often used by Soviet partisans, since cartridges for them could be obtained from German warehouses or from killed enemy soldiers.
